The city of Sofia, in Bulgaria, originated almost three thousand years ago, and was built by an enormous ancient Thracian tribe, known as the ‘Serdi’. Sofia is situated between the Balkan Mountains to the north and the wild and beautiful Vitosha Mountains to the south. Due to its altitude, the summers in Sofia are very hot while the winters extremely cold and snowy, making spring and autumn the best times for visiting.
