Nantes is the largest town in of the Brittany region and is a busy port that suffered great damage in World War II. There have been many famous people, from Molière to Stendhal, that have lived in this beautiful town. However, it is now the home to high-tech industries, and it has more than 30,000 college students and an enormous population of half a million. Nantes was built on the largest of three islands in the Loire. The most beautiful building to see while there, is the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, which rises right above the huge boulevard quai de la Fosse, giving a wonderful scenery. At one end of this boulevard, you can find the train station and at the other are the many promenades beside the Loire. Nantes has much to offer and will leave the visitor impressed and intrigued by the culture, architecture and the nightlife in this unique city.
