Casablanca is the economic capital of Morocco and the largest city, with more than 5 million people living there. Many tourists coming to Casablanca have expectations of a romantic town, as described in the Humphrey Bogart film of the same name. However, the only thing that will remind you of the film is the wonderful piano players found in the bars of the more expensive hotels. Casablanca is basically a big commercial and industrial city. It does however, have the medina (market) and the new Hassan II Mosque, which are a must see. If you arrive in Casablanca, and wish to explore more of Morocco then you might consider going north to the city of Rabat (100 km) or south to Marrakech by taking the train situated in the airport.
