Adana is the fourth largest city in Turkey that sees only passing tourism for its convenience as a gateway city to Syria and other areas of Turkey. Situated at the foot of the Taurus Mountains and skirted by the River Seyhan, Adana has some notable sites from its ancient history that stretches back to Roman times. The most impressive feature is the sturdy Taskopru Roman Bridge that is over 2000 years old and is still being used. There are a host of Mosques to explore, the 19th century clock tower and an intriguing Ethnographical museum with a host of ancient exhibits. Day excursions include the beaches of Karatas and Yumurtalik plus a host of ruins on the way to Iskenderun.
